Ņujorkas tautas deju kopa “Jumalīte” ir 2021. g. izveidota grupa domāta tiem, kas vēlās dejot raitas dejas Ņujorkas pilsētā! Jumalīte ir iekļaujoša vide: trimdinieku pēctečiem un nesen iebraukušiem, latviski runājošiem un tiem, kuri mācās, pieredzējušiem dejotājiem un iesācējiem. Neskatoties uz mūsu atšķirībām, mūsu dejotājiem ir iespēja aktīvi piedalīties un vienoties mūsu tautas mantojumā.

Who Are We?

New York Jumalīte was founded in 2021 by Māra Zālīte and Dagmāra Lapiņa, who understood New York Latvians’ growing desire to dance Latvian folk dance while continuing to build a strong community. In 2023, Jumalīte officially registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Jumalīte's mission is to build a welcoming community that develops its members' Latvian folk dance skills while strengthening and celebrating their connection with Latvian culture, heritage, and identity.

In just 4 years, Jumalīte has doubled in number of dancers, has more than thirty folk dances in its repertoire, and has performed in the Song and Dance Festivals in St. Paul, Toronto, and Latvia, as well as at more than a dozen local Latvian events. In its fourth season, Jumalīte continued to learn new dances at weekly rehearsals, working towards our performance in June 2025, Vidū rit sidrabiņš (Woven in Silver). In season 5, we’re working on the repertoire for the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Read more about us!

Nāc dejot! Join us!

Pieņemam dejotājus 17+ (vai 3. gadā vidusskolā). Dejot prasme nav nepieciešama. Izpēti informāciju par mēģinājumiem un to, ko sagaidām no dejotājiem.

Dancers must be at least 17 (or juniors in high school). Dance experience is not required - we’ll teach you everything you need to know! Check out this info about how we work and what the expectations are about being a part of Jumalīte.
